About Tufting and Punch Needling

It’s my first time tufting. What should I expect?
Welcome to the colourful world of tufting ✨
No experience is needed at all. Our workshops are designed for beginners, so we’ll guide you through the basics step by step. All you need to bring is curiosity and a willingness to try something new. We’ll provide the tools, materials, and support you need to create your own rug.

I’m not good at drawing. Can I still make a rug?
Absolutely. You don’t need to be an artist to tuft. We’ll help you simplify your design, trace it onto your backing, and adjust as you go. Many great rugs start with very simple ideas.

Can I make any design I want?
You’re free to choose your own design, as long as it fits within your selected rug size and time frame. We recommend keeping designs simple, especially if it’s your first time tufting, and we’re always happy to help you refine your idea.

How can I use the rug I make at the workshop?
Your finished piece can be used as a floor rug, wall hanging, or decorative accent. However you choose to style it, it’ll be something you made completely by yourself.

How long does it take to make a rug?
Most sessions take an average of 3 hours, depending on the size and complexity of your design. Larger pieces may require additional time.

I’m experienced at tufting. Can I still use the studio?
Yes. If you’re already experienced, you’re welcome to book studio time to work independently. Availability is limited, so we recommend reaching out in advance to confirm

Can I come with friends?
Yes, you’re welcome to come with friends. If it’s not a group booking, you can bring up to two friends. For larger groups, we recommend booking a group session so everyone can be accommodated comfortably.

Will I take my piece home the same day?
Yes, for most sessions you’ll take your creation home the same day. The only exception is our Maxi rug size, which requires additional time to complete and finish.

What age is suitable for tufting?
Tufting is recommended for ages 12 and above. Younger participants may join with close adult supervision, as the process involves tufting machines and sharp tools.

What age is suitable for punch needling?
Punch needling is suitable for ages 7 and above. It’s a more relaxed, hands-on activity and a great option for younger creatives exploring fibre art.

PLEASE NOTE

All sessions are guided and safety-focused. Participants are expected to follow studio instructions at all times. For younger participants, adult supervision may be required to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone.
